School Holiday 28 January: Schools in Jammu-Kashmir, Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana will remain closed on January 28, 2025, on account of Shab-e-Meraj. Though it is an optional holiday, not all schools will remain closed, but many schools may remain closed. The Jammu and Kashmir government has extended the Shab-e-Meraj holiday from January 27 (Monday) to January 28 (Tuesday).
Schools in Hyderabad and Telangana will observe a holiday on January 28 as Shab-e-Meraj, though it is not a public holiday but an optional holiday. Despite this, many schools will remain closed tomorrow. Shab-e-Meraj is a special night for Muslims, celebrated to commemorate the journey of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Jerusalem and his journey to heaven.
The Telangana government has declared a holiday on January 28 for Shab-e-Meraj, one of the six holidays in January, including two optional holidays.
Additionally, the Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to change the date of Shab-e-Meraj holiday. The Chief Executive Officer of Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board and Asar-e-Sharif Hazratbal Srinagar sent a message informing that Shab-e-Meraj will be observed on January 28, 2025 (Tuesday) instead of January 27.
