CBSE Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship 2025: CBSE has started its Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for college and university students for the academic year 2025-26. Eligible students can apply till 31 October.
CBSE CSSS 2025: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has started applications for its Central Sector Scholarship Scheme (CSSS) for college and university students for the academic year 2025-26. The last date for submitting online application forms for both new scholarship and renewal is 31 October 2025.
This much scholarship will be available
The scholarship amount for the first three years will be Rs 1,000 per month, which will be given for 10 months, i.e. Rs 10,000 annually. For the fourth and fifth year, it will increase to Rs 2,000 per month, which will amount to Rs 20,000 annually.
Eligibility Criteria
Class 12 students must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the CBSE scholarship:
The student must have scored above 80 percent in the Class 12 examination.
The student must be between 18 and 25 years of age.
The student must not be receiving any other scholarship simultaneously.
The family income should be less than Rs 6 lakh per annum.
Eligibility Criteria for Renewal
To apply for CSSS 2025 scholarship renewal, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
Minimum 60% marks in the respective year of study
Minimum 75% attendance
No disciplinary violations
The CBSE Scholarship 2025 is sponsored by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India. Students can apply for the scholarship scheme on the National Scholarship Portal – scholarships.gov.in.
Students can also apply for renewal of their scholarship during this time period – first renewal for the year 2024, second renewal for the year 2023, third renewal for the year 2022 and fourth renewal for the year 2021.
CBSE Scholarships for UG, PG
The CBSE scholarship scheme can be availed for the next five years for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The CBSE scholarship notice advises students to apply online within the stipulated time and get their applications verified by the institutions. Failure to comply will result in the application being deemed invalid.
A total of 50% of the scholarships will be allotted to female students. Scholarships for science, commerce and humanities students will be distributed in the ratio of 3:2:1. Out of all scholarships, 15% will be reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and 3% for physically handicapped students across all categories.
