Wilawan Emsawat, 35, has been charged with extortion in Thailand for allegedly recording herself having s*x with Buddhist monks & then blackmailing them for money. The case, dubbed a national scandal, began when high-ranking monk Phra Thep Wachirapamok went missing; police later found he had fled to Laos after Emsawat threatened to expose their affair.
Emsawat, also known as “Sika Golf,” is accused of an “industrial-scale blackmail operation.” She reportedly told police she developed relationships with monks, who then “lavished” her with gifts, including a Mercedes. When gifts slowed, she allegedly coerced money through sex-tape blackmail & phony paternity lawsuits. Prosecutors claim she looted one monk’s six-figure life savings by promising to start a ceramics business, & he later took temple funds to give her more money. Some monks reportedly still wore their robes during trysts. Emsawat’s ex-husband, a local politician, stated he left her because she spent evenings phoning monks for “donations.” Bangkok police estimate her total haul was over $12 million, which Emsawat claimed she blew on online gambling.
When police raided Emsawat’s luxurious home near Bangkok, they reportedly found over 80,000 compromising photos & videos of her trysts with monks, captured with at least five recording devices. So far, nine senior monks have been defrocked, & one charged with embezzling temple funds. This case has led to intense scrutiny on temple financing & prompted the police to background check all 300,000 Buddhist monks in Thailand.
Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn also canceled invitations for over 80 monks from his 73rd birthday celebration, citing “inappropriate behaviour that caused mental distress.” Some on Thai social media express sympathy for Emsawat, viewing her as a scapegoat for the monks’ actions.

Buddhism, which is considered an example of restraint and celibacy, is today in the grip of a major sexual scandal. A woman not only trapped 9 senior Buddhist monks in sexual relations through her honey trap, but also extorted crores of rupees by making more than 80,000 photos and videos of intimate moments with them. In three years, this amount reached about Rs 102 crore. The matter erupted when a monk, fed up with blackmailing, abandoned his celibate life. After this, as the investigation progressed, sensation spread across the country. Now the government and police of Thailand have issued an order to investigate every monastery and monk. This dark truth hidden behind the walls of religion, faith and morality has shaken the entire country.
