Punjab Bandh, Kapurthala Shops Closed tomorrow 25 February: festival of Mahashivratri is being celebrated across the country on 26 February. In this regard, Shobha Yatra are also being taken out in many districts of Punjab. Due to this, a Shobha Yatra is also being taken out in Kapurthala on 25 February, due to which orders have been issued to keep meat and liquor shops closed on the procession route.

Understanding the religious significance of Mahashivratri, IAS Amit Kumar Panchal, District Magistrate, Kapurthala, exercising the powers vested under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Act-2023, has ordered the closure of meat and liquor shops in the sub-divisions Phagwara / Sultanpurlodhi of Kapurthala district on February 24 and within the sub-division Kapurthala limits on February 25 during the procession.
He said that this order should be publicized by the District Public Relations Officer Kapurthala through print / electronic media. Apart from this, copies of this order will be pasted on the notice boards at various offices of sub-divisions like Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Tehsil/Municipal Corporation/BDPO and at railway stations, bus stands for information of the general public.
