Maharashtra: Bank manager commits suicide in Pune, took the step by blaming work pressure in suicide note

A senior official of a nationalized bank in Baramati in Pune district of Maharashtra allegedly committed suicide. An official of Baramati police station said that Shivshankar Mitra, around 40 years old, hanged himself in the bank premises late Thursday night.

He said that Shivshankar Mitra was completing his notice period after resigning from the post of chief manager of the bank on July 11 citing health reasons and workload. He said, ‘After the banking hours were over, Mitra asked all the employees to leave saying that he would close the branch. The watchman left at around 9:30 pm. Work pressure cited as the reason

The officer further said, ‘When Mitra did not return home nor did he answer any calls, his wife reached the bank around midnight. She found the lights on. When there was no response from inside, she informed the bank staff. When the branch was opened, Mitra was found hanging from the ceiling.
