Public Holiday 5 February: All government and private offices will remain closed due to the assembly elections to be held in Delhi on February 5, 2025. Voting will be held on 70 assembly seats on this day, so that the employees can get a full opportunity to exercise their franchise. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has already made it clear that there will be a holiday in central government offices, industrial establishments and other institutions.
Holiday in educational institutions too
Due to the use of many schools and colleges as polling stations, all educational institutions will remain closed on February 5. Keeping in mind the administrative preparations in some institutions, February 4 has also been declared a holiday. For example, the school section of Jamia Millia Islamia will remain completely closed on February 4 and 5.
Voting awareness campaign and rally
A Prabhat rally will be taken out on February 3 at 9 am to raise awareness about the elections. During this, students will participate with posters and banners and motivate local residents to vote. The election officer of the South West Delhi government issued an official notice on January 31 and directed the Deputy Directors of Education of the concerned areas to ensure active participation in this campaign.
Holiday declared in Haryana too
Keeping in mind the Delhi Assembly elections, the Haryana government has also declared a public holiday on February 5. This holiday will be for those government employees who are registered voters of Delhi and want to vote. This order has been issued under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 and Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (amended in 1996).
