Why banks will remain closed on Tuesday

Thai Poosam is an important religious festival celebrated in South India, which is celebrated with great pomp especially in Tamil Nadu. Lord Murugan is worshiped on this day. Devotees keep fast and perform special rituals in temples. Given the importance of this festival, there is a bank holiday in Tamil Nadu. Due to the closure of banks on the occasion of Thai Poosam, people will not have to finish their bank work in advance.

According to the states, banks are closed on all national and local festivals, anniversaries, Sundays, second Saturdays and fourth Saturdays of every month. All bank branches are open on the first, third and fifth Saturdays. Banks will remain closed for 14 days in the month of February.

Wednesday, February 12: Banks will be closed in Shimla on Sant Ravidas Jayanti.

Saturday, February 15: Banks will be closed in Imphal on the occasion of Loi-Ngai-Ni.

Wednesday, February 19: Banks will be closed in Belapur, Mumbai, and Nagpur on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.

Thursday, February 20: Banks will be closed in Aizawl and Itanagar on the occasion of State Day.

Wednesday, February 26: Banks will be closed in Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bengaluru, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram on the occasion of Mahashivratri.

Saturday-Sunday, 8th and 9th February: Second Saturday and Weekly Holiday.

Sunday, 16th February: Weekly Holiday.

Saturday-Sunday, 22nd and 23rd February: Fourth Saturday and Weekly Holiday.
