Much-anticipated Pune City Marathon will take place tomorrow, Sunday, February 2, 2025, with over 15,000 runners set to take part in this inspiring event. The marathon will be flagged off from the Poona Club Ltd Cricket Ground, marking a significant occasion for the city.
This year’s event is focused on promoting a ‘Green and Inclusive Pune’, aiming to unite the community for a healthier and more sustainable future. The marathon will feature multiple categories, including 3 km, 5 km, 10 km, and the main event, the 21 km Half Marathon. The Half Marathon will begin at 5:30 AM, with runners taking on a single-loop route across the city.
Race director Shailesh Ranka emphasized, “The Pune City Marathon is not just a race; it is a movement. We want it to become a catalyst for change, bringing the community together for a healthier, greener, and more compassionate Pune. Each step taken by the participants reflects a commitment to environmental and social causes, leaving a positive impact on the city.”
The event is being organized by The Poona Club Ltd in partnership with Dorabjee Charitable Trust and the support of Southern Command Headquarters. This is the second edition of the marathon, and according to Gaurav Gadhoke, president of Poona Club, it promises to be even better than last year, with an increasing number of enthusiastic participants and strong support from local government bodies.
With its growing impact and the overwhelming support from the community, the Pune City Marathon is set to become one of the city’s most influential events, inspiring positive change and encouraging a healthier, greener lifestyle for Pune’s residents.
