Known for her bold fashion and outspoken style, Urfi Javed is once again in the headlines for her statement. Recently, she spoke openly about religion and marriage and told how religion has affected her life. Not only this, she also shared that she is reading the Bhagavad Gita to understand Hinduism better.
Urfi Javed latest statement on Islam
In an interview given to India Today, Urfi openly reacted to the criticism she is receiving from Islam and her community. She said-
“I am a Muslim girl, but the hate comments I receive mostly come from the Muslim community. They believe that I am tarnishing the image of Islam. They dislike me because Muslim men want their women to live and behave in a certain way. They want to control women, and that is why I do not believe in Islam.” Urfi’s answer on inter-religious relationships
When she was asked about marriage and relationships, Urfi clearly said that she would never marry a Muslim boy. She said-
“I don’t believe in Islam and don’t follow any religion, so I don’t care who I love. We should marry whoever we want.”
Views on family and religious freedom
Urfi also told that there was never any pressure regarding religion in her family. She said-
“My mother is very religious, but she never imposed her religion on us. My siblings believe in Islam, but I was never pressured to adopt it. This is how it should be. No one should try to impose their religion on others, not even on their children and wife. It should come from the heart, otherwise neither you will be happy nor Allah.”
