School Closed 28 January: Schools in Jammu and Kashmir, Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana will remain closed on 28 January 2025, due to Shab-e-Meraj. Shab-e-Meraj is a special night for Muslims, which is celebrated to commemorate the journey of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Jerusalem and his journey to heaven.
The Telangana government has declared a holiday on January 28 for Shab-e-Meraj, one of the six holidays in January, including two optional holidays.
Additionally, the Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to change the date of Shab-e-Meraj holiday. The Chief Executive Officer of Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board and Asar-e-Sharif Hazratbal Srinagar sent a message informing that Shab-e-Meraj will be observed on January 28, 2025 (Tuesday) instead of January 27.
