In 2025, Mahashivratri is on 26 February i.e. tomorrow and on this occasion, holiday has been declared in schools and colleges across the country. All government and private schools will remain closed on the day of Shivratri in the capital Delhi.

Parents are still advised to contact the school management once regarding the school holiday tomorrow. Apart from Delhi, there is a possibility of public holiday tomorrow in many states including UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha.

What is the situation of other states?

February 26 is a holiday in Madhya Pradesh. There was already a holiday announced on the day of Mahashivratri in the government calendar. All schools will remain closed in MP tomorrow.

In Telangana, a two-day holiday has been announced. In this state, there will be a holiday on both 26 and 27 February on Mahashivratri. In this state, both government and private schools will remain closed on the occasion of Mahashivratri. This decision will apply to schools and colleges across the state, allowing students and teachers to participate in the festival.

In Andhra Pradesh too, a holiday has been announced in schools on February 27. However, this holiday is due to the MLC elections being held in the state rather than Mahashivratri celebrations.
