SC Recommendations in Haryana Hospitals; Night Staff to Get Transportation Facility

Haryana Update: Following the incident of rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata, the Supreme Court’s National Task Force recommendations will now be implemented in Haryana.

The Director General of the Health Department has issued orders in this regard, along with releasing the task force’s report to all Civil Surgeons, IMA, IDA, and private hospitals. Feedback and objections on the recommendations have been invited until January 18.

Night Transport Facility and Enhanced Security

According to the report, hospitals in Haryana will soon provide transportation facilities to doctors, nurses, and other staff working night shifts. Security measures will also be strengthened, requiring security personnel to undergo police verification, including a mental health check.

Safety Control Rooms in Major Hospitals

Hospitals with 500 or more beds must set up safety control rooms. CCTV cameras will be installed at entry/exit points, emergency wards, corridors, ICUs, etc. Police outposts may also be established in larger hospitals. For campuses with poor mobile connectivity, improvements will be made as per recommendations.

Other Key Recommendations

Restrooms and Safety Equipment

Separate restrooms and duty rooms for doctors and nurses on duty, equipped with safety devices.

Advanced Technology for Security

Use biometric systems and facial recognition devices for access to sensitive areas.

Formation of Safety Committees

Hospitals must establish employee-safety committees comprising doctors, trainees, resident doctors, and nurses. These committees will review security measures and provide reports for improvements.

Trained Security Personnel

Hospitals must deploy trained security personnel at key locations like entry/exit gates, emergency wards, and ICUs. Large hospitals should have Quick Response Teams (QRT). Priority will be given to hiring ex-servicemen. Annual health checks for security staff and training in crowd and victim management will also be mandated.

Transport for Night Staff

Hospitals operating round-the-clock must provide transport for night-shift staff between 10 PM and 6 AM. On-call staff must also receive transportation facilities. GPS will be installed in ambulances and government hospital vehicles for live tracking by the control room.

Launch of She-Box Portal in Hospitals

Hospitals will set up She-Box electronic portals to handle complaints related to sexual harassment. Female employees and patients can lodge complaints directly through this system.

These measures aim to improve safety, ensure effective security, and create a supportive working environment for healthcare workers.
