However, Maharashtra Police has now found a solution to this. A big change is going to happen regarding traffic rules in Maharashtra. This change will come into effect from April 30. At the same time, strict action can be taken against those who do not follow the traffic rules.

HSRP not installed in many vehicles

In fact, while implementing the Motor Vehicle Act in 2019, the Central Government had made it mandatory to install High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) on vehicles. However, there are 10 lakh new vehicles in Maharashtra, which are roaming on the roads without HSRP in the last 5 years. The state government had made it mandatory to install HSRP for 2 crore 10 lakh old vehicles registered before 2019.

How much will be the fine?

According to the new traffic rules of Maharashtra, it is mandatory to install HSRP in all vehicles before 30 April. In such a situation, vehicles not following the orders can be fined. According to traffic rules, a fine of up to Rs 500-1000 can be deducted for not installing HSRP.

3 companies got the responsibility

If the figures are to be believed, out of the total 1.15 crore registered vehicles in Maharashtra, 1 crore 05 lakh vehicles have HSRP. Whereas 9.98 lakh vehicles are speeding on the roads without HSRP. Maharashtra Transport Commissioner has directed the RTO to run a campaign against such vehicles. The work of installing HSRP on old vehicles has started from December 2024. The Transport Department has entrusted the responsibility of installing HSRP to 3 companies.

  1. Visit the official website of Maharashtra Transport Department https://transport.maharashtra.gov.in/.
  2. Click on the option of HSRP
  3. Go to HSRP Online Booking and after selecting the office, click on Submit.
  4. Now you will get the option of Order Now, Reschedule Appointment, HSRP Status, Reprint Invoice, and Customer Support.
  5. To get HSRP made, you can complete the process by clicking on Order Now.
