Weather Forecast: The series of severe cold continues across the country, and the chill may increase further in the coming days. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning that due to two active western disturbances in the next few days, there will be heavy rain and snowfall in many parts of the country. The effect of these disturbances will be seen from January 29 to February 2. In the next 24 hours, an alert has been issued for dense fog in 11 states, cold wave in 4 states and heavy rain in 8 states. There is a possibility of rain over the weekend in North India including Delhi-NCR, which will further reduce the temperature.

Effect of Western Disturbance
According to the Meteorological Department, this time two western disturbances are becoming active one after the other.
The first disturbance will affect the western Himalayan region on January 29, due to which there will be snowfall in the hilly areas and rain in the plains.
The second disturbance will be active on February 1, which will affect North India as well as parts of South India.
Due to these disturbances, snowfall and rain are expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between January 29 and February 1. Apart from this, rain is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR from January 30 to February 1. Heavy rain alert has also been issued in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Puducherry.
Delhi-NCR: Cold will increase further on weekends
At present, light sunshine is giving relief during the day in Delhi-NCR, but after the start of rain from January 30, the cold will intensify. There may be a big drop in temperature on January 31 and February 1 with strong winds and rain.
Warning of dense fog and cold wave
Cold wave alert has been issued in many areas of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan till February 2. Dense fog is also expected in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya till January 31. Visibility may be extremely low during morning and night hours.
End of January and beginning of February
Many areas of North and South India will be affected by rain and snowfall in the last days of January and beginning of February. The cold wave will intensify in areas where mild cold is currently being felt. The Meteorological Department has advised people to wear warm clothes and take precautions.
