Government Holiday in Punjab: Punjab government has declared a public holiday across the state on February 12 (Wednesday). This holiday has been given on the occasion of Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji. All government and non-government schools, educational institutions and government offices will remain closed on this day.
Shobha Yatra and special arrangements
A day before Prakash Parv, a Shobha Yatra will be taken out in Jalandhar on February 11. On this occasion, the district administration has issued an order to keep meat and liquor shops closed on February 11 and 12.
Religious sentiments and law and order taken care of
District Magistrate Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that keeping in mind the Prakashotsav and Shobha Yatra of Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji, this decision has been taken under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code, 2023. Its purpose is to respect religious sentiments and maintain peace.
