Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced changes in the timetable of metro services on the day of polling on February 5 and counting on February 8. On these days, Delhi Metro will start its services from 4 am so that the employees deployed on election duty do not face any inconvenience.
Metro timings changed on voting and counting days
DMRC said in its official statement that on February 5 (polling) and February 8 (counting), metro trains on all lines will leave from terminal stations at 4 am. The purpose behind this is that the officers and employees deployed on election duty can reach their workplace on time.
Metro services will be available at an interval of 30 minutes till 6 am
On both these days, metro trains will be operated at an interval of every 30 minutes till 6 am. After this, metro services will run regularly throughout the day as per their normal time.
Metro facility will be available till late night for polling staff
DMRC has also clarified that the last metro services will be extended till midnight on 5th and 6th February for the convenience of the employees after the polling duty is over. This will ensure that all the people involved in election duty can easily return to their homes.
Tight security arrangements for elections in Delhi
The noise of campaigning for the assembly elections in Delhi stopped at 6 pm on Monday. After this, the leaders of all the political parties tried to woo the voters through road shows, padyatras and public meetings till the last moment. Keeping the elections in mind, more than 150 paramilitary force companies and more than 30,000 policemen have been deployed in the capital.

DMRC has appealed to the people of Delhi to reach their polling stations using metro services on the day of voting and exercise their democratic right.
