A disturbing case has emerged from the United States where a woman was tragically killed by her own daughter’s pet dogs. The incident took place in Pueblo County, Colorado, where 76-year-old Lavonne Hoff was attacked and mauled to death by several dogs owned by her daughter. Following the horrifying attack, the daughter, identified as Jessica Hoff, has been arrested by local authorities.
Daughter’s Arrest After Shocking Negligence
According to The Sun report citing the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, 47-year-old Jessica Hoff was arrested in connection with her mother Lavonne Hoff’s death, which occurred in February. The investigation revealed serious negligence on Jessica’s part, raising many questions about her carelessness toward both her ailing mother and the animals she hoarded.
Left Dementia-Stricken Mother Alone
Authorities stated that on February 3, Jessica left her mother Lavonne alone in their home in Colorado City while she went out. What makes this worse is that Jessica was fully aware that her mother suffered from dementia, a condition that severely affects memory, thinking, and the ability to make decisions. Leaving a dementia patient alone was not only irresponsible but fatal in this case.
54 Dogs Found, Many in Critical Condition
When police arrived on the scene, they found Lavonne Hoff unconscious, surrounded by several aggressive dogs. Investigators later discovered nearly two dozen more dogs and seven caged birds inside the house.
The shock didn’t stop there. A search of Jessica Hoff’s other property led to the discovery of 54 dogs, many of which were sick, malnourished, and living in extremely poor conditions.
