Bengaluru (Karnataka): Dr. Krishna Rajendra Neeli, Project Director of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) at the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), The first prototype, initially expected to be ready by 2024-25. Its confirmed that India’s first fifth-generation fighter jet is expected to take flight by 2028. after documentation the AMCA is unlikely to enter operational service before 2034.
Speaking about the progress of the AMCA program, he emphasized that the aircraft is being designed to seamlessly integrate into net-centric warfare environments. With cutting-edge electronic support systems and advanced decision aids, the jet will truly embody a “five-plus generation” fighter.
Dr. Neeli also highlighted India’s technological advancements, stating that the country is evolving towards next-generation capabilities, progressing from fifth-generation fighters to six-generation concepts. He reaffirmed that indigenous technology will play a crucial role in equipping the tri-services with state-of-the-art aerial combat systems.
Recent reports indicate that India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program is experiencing significant delays. The first prototype, initially expected to be ready by 2024-25, is now anticipated to roll out only by 2028, with the inaugural flight projected for the same year.
