Foreign Minister Jaishankar raised the mention of POK in response to a Pakistani journalist’s question on Kashmir. After this, there has been a stir not only in the country but also in Pakistan. Now Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah has said that who has stopped us from taking back POK. Along with this, he also raised the issue of China.
Ever since Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has spoken clearly on POK in the UK, the politics of India as well as Pakistan has heated up. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah targeted the BJP government by mentioning this in the Assembly. He said that the Foreign Minister has said that we will bring back the part occupied by Pakistan. Who stopped him? Tell me who stopped him? Did we say don’t bring it? We say that if you want to bring it, then bring it. He further quipped that we will be grateful to the BJP government if it takes back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as well as the part illegally occupied by China.
Jaishankar had said in a session of ‘Chatham House’ in London on Wednesday that the Kashmir dispute will be resolved after the return of the stolen part of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Citing the speech of BJP members in the House, CM Abdullah said that Congress is targeted by talking about leaving Haji Pir in Uri sector. He further said, ‘During the Kargil war, there was an opportunity to take back PoK because Pakistan attacked us. If you were so willing, you would have taken back that part but who stopped you? When you see the map of Jammu and Kashmir, a part of it is also in China but you do not talk about it.’
He lashed out at BJP leaders for accusing the National Conference (NC) of insulting Maharaja Hari Singh, the last ruler of Jammu and Kashmir. He also challenged the BJP leaders to give a single example when the ruling party or any other Kashmir-based party has insulted the Dogra ruler. He said that the BJP has reduced the status of the Muslim-majority state by disintegrating it.
The Chief Minister, while concluding the discussion on the motion of thanks on the address of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in the Assembly, said that when the BJP-led central government brings back PoK, they should also bring back that part of Jammu and Kashmir which is currently occupied by China. We will be grateful to you.
He said, ‘You have distorted the map of the Maharaja by separating Ladakh from Jammu and Kashmir and abolished his laws, especially related to land and jobs, which were to provide security to the people.’ Abdullah said that the BJP is justifying the separation by saying that it was a long-pending demand of the people of Ladakh.
The CM said, ‘Have you asked them? Have you tried to find out?’ Abdullah said, ‘The people of Kargil were against this decision from day one. Ladakh Buddhists distributed sweets and today they believe that their situation was better in Jammu and Kashmir. They walked from Leh to Delhi to get their rights back.’ He said that the situation in Himachal Pradesh is better because if anyone sets up an industry or hotel in the hill state, he has to give 70 per cent jobs to the local people.
