Holiday Declared in Haryana: Keeping in mind the Delhi Assembly elections, the Haryana government has announced a paid holiday in all government offices, educational institutions, boards and corporations of the state on February 5, 2025. The purpose of this decision is to facilitate those government and private employees who are registered voters in Delhi and want to vote.

Holiday under legal provisions

According to the official statement of the Haryana government, this holiday has been given under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 and Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (amended 1996). This will ensure that the employees of Haryana eligible to vote in Delhi can exercise their franchise without any hindrance.

Private sector employees also get holiday

Employees working in factories, shops and private establishments will also get paid leave on the day of voting. The government has made it clear that all private employers will have to implement it so that employees can vote without any pressure.

700 markets of Delhi will remain closed

The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has announced that all 700 markets of Delhi will remain closed on February 5. Traders have been instructed to follow the guidelines of the Election Commission and the Labor Department. This will help in conducting the voting process smoothly.
