Bihar has been given special priority in Budget 2025-26, which is an important step in view of the assembly elections to be held in the state in October-November 2025. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made several big announcements for the development of Bihar, including major projects and expansion of infrastructure as well as measures to promote local industries.
Establishment of National Institute of Food Technology (NIFT)
The National Institute of Food Technology will be established to create new possibilities in the field of food technology in Bihar. This will provide skill development and employment opportunities to the youth of the state, as well as strengthen the food processing industry.
Expansion of IIT
The expansion of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Bihar has been announced. This will increase the level of technical education in the state and the students of Bihar will get high quality education.
Makhana Board and Airport Construction
A Makhana Board will be formed to promote the Makhana industry in Bihar, which will support farmers and industrialists. Apart from this, 3 new airports will be built in the state, which will increase the facility of air travel in Bihar and promote tourism. The Greenfield airports scheme will also provide better connectivity to the remote areas of Bihar.
Support to Western Cost Canal Project (Mithilanchal)
The Mithilanchal region will benefit from the Western Cost Canal Project, which will solve the problems of the region in terms of agriculture and water supply. This will provide better irrigation facilities to the farmers and increase agricultural production.
