Ambala: The Electricity Corporation has increased the strictness regarding the recovery of dues till the end of January. So far, Rs 27 crore has been recovered in the Ambala city division, which included consumers who had dues of more than Rs 50 thousand.

Now the next target of the corporation is to crack down on those consumers whose electricity bill is pending between Rs 10 thousand to Rs 50 thousand. For this, the corporation has prepared a list, which includes consumers of domestic and commercial category.

Focus on 16 thousand defaulter consumers

According to the data of the Electricity Corporation, there were a total of 31 thousand defaulter consumers in the Ambala city division, out of which 15 thousand consumers have paid their dues. The corporation has recovered Rs 27 crore out of the total recovery of Rs 40 crore, while Rs 13 crore is still outstanding. Now the corporation will run a special campaign to recover from the remaining 16 thousand defaulter consumers.

Emphasis on transformer upgrade

Out of 236 transformers, 136 new transformers will be installed to strengthen the power supply in the city division. Also, the capacity of about 100 old transformers will be increased, which will improve power supply. A plan has been made to double the capacity of these transformers and an estimate has been prepared for this. All necessary approvals will be obtained to complete this plan in the month of February, after which the transformers will be replaced and upgraded.

This strictness of the Electricity Corporation will have a direct impact on the consumers. Notices will soon be issued to consumers who do not pay the dues, while the process of installing new transformers has been expedited to improve power supply.
