Korean auto giant Hyundai Motor showcased the Staria (Staria) luxury MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) at the India Mobility Global Expo 2025. Hyundai says the Staria MPV has a ‘futuristic body design’ inspired by spacecraft. This MPV can seat 11 passengers. Showcasing it at the Expo indicates that Hyundai may launch the Staria MPV in India soon.
The Hyundai Staria MPV made its global debut in 2021. This is the first time the carmaker has brought a large luxury van to India. The Staria is sold in both passenger vehicle and commercial segments in global markets including Southeast Asia. It competes with large vans like the Toyota Vellfire. The showcasing in the exo indicates that Hyundai may launch the Staria MPV in India soon.
Hyundai Staria: Huge in size, plenty of space
The first thing that anyone will notice when looking at the Hyundai Staria MPV is its huge size. It is 5,253 mm in length, 1,997 mm in width and 1,990 mm in height. The wheelbase of the Staria is 3,273 mm. The Staria MPV is based on the Hyundai-Kia N3 platform. Which it shares with cars like the new generation Kia Carnival. The large van stands out with its unique design as well as a very spacious interior. Hyundai says that the Staria MPV has a ‘futuristic body design’ inspired by spacecraft. This MPV can seat 11 passengers.
Hyundai Staria: Inspired by the design of a spaceship
The Staria MPV has a large windscreen at the front, an LED light bar spanning the entire width, low-set LED headlights located on the sides, a massive chrome grille. The sides of the MPV have large panoramic windows with low lines for a distinct and futuristic design. The MPV has automatic sliding doors for the second and third row passengers, which are operated by buttons. At the rear, the MPV has vertically stacked pixel LED tail lamps inspired by Hyundai models such as the Ioniq 5.
Hyundai Staria: Engine and Transmission
The Staria MPV is available with hybrid, V6 petrol and diesel engine options. The hybrid system uses a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine. This engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine generates 178 hp of power and 265 Nm of peak torque. While the electric motor can generate 72 hp of power and 304 Nm of torque. The combined power output is 242 hp and 367 Nm. The 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine is mated to a six-speed or eight-speed automatic gearbox. Which can generate 175 bhp of power and 431 Nm of peak torque.
Hyundai Staria: How are the features
The interior of the Staria MPV varies depending on the variant chosen. Hyundai Staria is available in 11, 9 and 7-seat configurations as well as a two-seater commercial version. The seats inside the 7-seater version of the MPV can recline at the press of a button. While the second row of the 9-seater version can be rotated up to 180 degrees.
The interior is crafted with high-quality materials with minimalist styling. There is a virtual instrument cluster at the top of the front console. Which is connected to a separate unit in addition to a 10.25-inch multimedia screen. Which is a touchscreen control panel for the main functions of the car.
The MPV also gets automatic climate control, heated and ventilated seats and a wireless charger among other features.
